Stand Up & Speak Out

Worried about a friend?

If you are having some concerns about a friend, we hope that our links below can be of some help to you.

My friend is being bulled online and I don't know what to do...

First thing's first, your friend is very lucky to have someone like you looking out for them.

  1. Send them a private message and ask them, “Are you okay?”, assure them that you are always there for them.
  2. Print screen the evidence of cyberbullying so you have something to show a trusted adult.
  3. Encourage them to “Block and Report” the perpetrators
  4. After being bullied they may feel as though their confidence has gone, do your best to encourage them to speak out about what has happened to a parent/guardian, teacher or anyone else they trust.
  5. Ask them if they would be okay with you taking a stand and speaking to someone for them.
  6. Assure them that this tough time WILL end, and that you have their back no matter what.
  7. Help them focus on their talents and hobbies. You can do this by reminding them of their many achievements; goals they've scored, trophies they've won.
  8. Remind them that YOU care as do so many others.
  9. The most important thing is that they know that they are not alone and that people want to help. Be a hero and help someone in need!

It's important to look after your own wellbeing, focus on the positives in your own life, ensure that YOU are okay before helping others.
